about

I have always loved playing hymns; there are so many great tunes and harmonies, along with powerful words and imagery. This album of hymns contains only a small fraction of my favorites – expect more volumes to come!

I grew up in the Lutheran church and have been the music director at two churches. I enjoy improvising on hymns during the service and arranging hymns for the choirs. With so much material to draw from, it was natural to start recording these beautiful hymns!

This album contains two tracks of special significance: “The Old Rugged Cross,” which my Grandma Hance often asks me to play, and “Lily of the Valley,” which my Grandpa Ostlund loves. I tried to paint many different colors in these arrangements, and I hope these reflective hymns give you moments of peace, contemplation and joy.
